Hilum Left Kidney Vertebral Level. On the left hand side the hilum is located at the l1 vertebral level and the right kidney at level l1 2. It s kind of shown just sticking on to the side of the kidney but they actually enter medially into this vertical little slit into the inside of the kidney.

The left renal artery is much shorter and arises slightly more superior to the right main renal artery.
